JOHN'S SWEET SAUCE

  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1 cup Vinegar, red wine
  • 1 (8 oz.) can Tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup Mustard, spicy honey
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Salt, seasoned
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper, red, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper, fresh, ground
  • Bring all ingredients to a boil in a heavy pan. Reduce heat, and simmersauce, stirring occasionally for 30 minutes. Yield: 1 quart.

    For a less sweet sauce, reduce or eliminate the brown sugar and/or ketchup. You may need to add a little water to make up for the liquid in the ketchup.*
