APPLE BETTY

  • 4 cups Macintosh Apples (pared and sliced)
  • 1/2 cup Raisins, optional
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2/3 cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup Oats, quick-cooking
  • 1/3 cup Butter or margarine, melted
  • 1. Preheat oven to 375°. Grease a 9 inch pie plate.

    2. Place apples in prepared pie plate. Sprinkle with lemon juice.

    3. Thoroughly combine sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir in oatmeal. Add butter. Mix until crumbly. Stir 3/4 cup mixture into apples. Arrange evenly in pie plate. Sprinkle remaining mixture over apples.

    4. Bake 25-30 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is browned. Serve warm.

    Goes great with corned beef.

    Makes 6-8 servings
