CUT OUT SUGAR COOKIES

  • 2/3 cup Butter-flavored Crisco
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 tbls plus 1 tsp Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1. In a large bowl cream Crisco, sugar, milk and vanilla until well blended. Beat in egg.

    2. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Mix into creamed mixture. Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight.

    3. Preheat oven to 375°.

    4. On a floured surface roll half the dough at a time to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut in desired shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with colored sugars or decors or leave plain to frost when cool.

    5. Bake at 375° about 7-9 minutes. Cool slightly. Remove to cooling racks.

    Makes approximately 3 dozen cookies.
