BARBECUE SAUCE A'LA MOM

  • 1/2 cup Vinegar, distilled
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar, light
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/8 cup Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/2 cup Lemon juice, concentrated
  • 1 medium Onion, cubed
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestshire Sauce
  • Mix all ingredients except ketchup and worcestshire sauce in a large saucepan. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes or so. Add ketchup and worcestshire sauce, stir well and cook an additional 20 minutes (will thicken as it cooks, after 20 minutes, it's a thin basting sauce consistency).

    Use as desired, makes about 3 cups. When doubling recipe, increase vinegar to 3/4 cup instead of a full cup.
