Cookies

GINGER MOLASSES COOKIES

  • 3/4 Cup Butter or Margerine, softened
  • 1 Cup Brown sugar, adrk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 Cup Molasses
  • 2 1/4 Cups Flour
  • 2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cloves, ground
  • 1 Teaspoon Ginger, ground
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon, ground
  • Sugar, granulated for rolling
  • Mix shortening, brown sugar, egg, and molasses thoroughly. Blend dry ingredients thoroughly and stil into molasses mixture. Chill.

    Preheat oven to 375°. Roll into 1 1/4 inch balls. Dip tops in granulated sugar. Place balls sugar side up, 3 inches apert on a greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with 2-3 drops of water. Bake 10-12 minutes or just until set but not hard. Yield about 48 cookies.
