Cakes and Frostings

APPLESAUCE CAKE

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups Applesauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Soda
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Allspice
  • 1/2 cup Shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cloves
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 2 unbeaten Eggs
  • 1 cup Raisins
  • 1 cup Nuts, chopped
  • Place all ingredient's,except raisins and nuts in a large mixing bowl and beat together.Add raisins and nuts.Bake at 350,until toothpick comes out clean.Frost with brown sugar frosting:

    1 cup butter

    1 cup brown sugar

    1 cup milk

    1 3/4 to 2 cups powered sugar

    Melt butter: add brown sugar.Cook over low heat.Stir constantly 2 min. Add milk,Stir until boiling.Let cool.Slowly add powdered sugar. Beat well.
