Honey-Ginger Sauce

  • 1 cup Orange juice, fresh
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Hoisin sauce
  • 1 small Lime, zest and juice
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, fresh, grated
  • 2 tablespoons Shallots, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 pinch Cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Cornstarch, mixed with cold water to
  • ~ Resemble cream
  • In a saucepan, combine the orange juice, honey, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, lime zest and juice, ginger, shallots, five-spice powder and cayenne pepper. Heat mixture over medium-high heat until it reaches a simmer. Add the conrstarch mixture and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and set aside until sauce cools to room temperature.

    Makes 1 cup.

    NOTE: Chinese five-spice powder can be found in the spice section of Asian food section of most supermarkets.
