Baking Powder Biscuits

  • 2 cups Flour, all-purpose
  • 3 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Shortening
  • 3/4 cups Milk
  • Heat oven to 450°. Sift flour, baking powder and salt into bowl. Cut shorteningin until mixture looks like pebbles. Stir in milk. Roll up the dough, put on lightly floured board. Knead lightly for 30 sec. Roll out 1 inch thick. Cut roundswith glass or cutter, place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 min.

    Additions: Add 1 cup shredded chedder with milkor add several tsp. dried herbs ( like tarragon, basil, thyme, oregano). (Note:If you don't have time to roll dough, increase milk to 1 cup and drop dough by spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet.
