Orange Slice Cake

  • 3 1/2 cups Flour, all-purpose
  • 1 pounds Orange slice candy ( cut in small peices
  • 8 ounces Dates, chopped
  • 1 cups Butter
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 1/2 cups Buttermilk
  • 3 1/4 cups Coconut
  • 2 cups Pecans, chopped
  • Sift together 3 c. flour and salt. Set aside.Combine orange slices, dates, nuts, and coconut. Add 1 c. of flour and mix,This keeps the fruit and candy from sticking together; set aside. Cream sugar and butter until light , add eggs one at a time and mix well after each. Add sodato 1c. buttermilk; add with flour and butter mixture; blend well. Add candy, nuts, dates, and coconut and mix well. Pour in a tube pan which has been well-greased and floured. Bake 300° for abour 1 hour and 45min.

    TOPPING: 1 Cup orange juice ( real ) and 2 Cups of powered sugar, mix well. Pour over cake when removed from oven. Cool. Place in refrigerator overnight. Remove from pan.

    I use a largeold salt shaker with flour in it to getto the tube part of the pan.when I flour it.
