Red Velvet Cake

  • 2 cups Flour, all-purpose
  • 1 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoons Cocoa
  • 3/4 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 1 ( 1 oz.) bottle Red food coloring
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cups Buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoons Vinegar
  • 3/4 cups Milk
  • 1/2 cups Sugar
  • Preheat oven to 350°.

    Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa in a bowl. In another bowl, cream oil, and 1 1 cups of sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Beat wellater each. Add food Coloring. Mix untill well blended. Combine buttermilk and soda. Mix well. Add to oil,sugar mixture alternately with dry ingredients. Add vinegar and vanilla. Mix well. Spoon into two greased and floured 9 inch round pans. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Combine milk and remaining sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Spoon evenly on each layer. Cool and frost.
