Cakes and Frostings

Shoo Fly Cake

  • 4 cups Flour
  • 2 1/4 cups Brown sugar
  • 1 cup Margarine
  • 1 cup Molasses
  • 2 cups Water, boiling
  • 2 teaspoons Baking soda
  • Mix together flour, brown sugar and margarine.

    Work into fine crumbs.

    Save 1 1/2 cups for topping.

    Mix remaining crumbs, molasses, boiling water and soda.

    Put into a 9" x 11" pan.

    Top with saved crumbs.

    Bake for 40 minutes in a 350° oven.
