Simple Calzone

  • 1 batch ready to use Calzone Dough (see Breads)
  • 1 pound diced Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 pound Tomatoes peeled,seeded wedges
  • 1 beaten Egg
  • 2 tsp Water
  • ~ Oil
  • On a floured surface, roll out dough to1/4 inch thick; cut into 4-inch rounds,brushing each with oil.

    Put an equalamount of mozzeralla and tomatoes on each round. Brush edges with egg beaten with water.

    Fold dough over filling to form a crescent and press edges to seal.

    Place calzones on lightly oiled baking sheet and brush each with oil.

    Let stand 30 minutes. Bake 400º for 10 minutes; reduce heat to 375º and bake 10-15 minutes longer, or until golden brown.
