Basic Tomato Sauce for Pizza

  • 3 cups canned-drained Tomatoes, Italian style plum
  • 1 can 8 oz Tomato, sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper, Black
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Oil, Olive
  • 1 cup finely chopped Onions
  • Saute onions in olive oil over med heatuntil they are transparent. Add remaining ingredients, except oregano, and stir well.

    Simmer uncovered for 45 minutes. Add oregano and continue cooking 15 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Sauce is now ready to spread on pizza.

    To build pizza: Have on hand favorite filling ingredients such as shredded mozzarella, Browned sausage, mushrooms, sauted onions, etc. In the dough filled pan place 3/4 ofthe shredded cheese, then layer other ingredients. Pour tomato sauce over all and top with reserved cheese. Add another layer of parmesan.

    Bake 450º for 25 minutes or until crust is golden.
