Doughnuts

  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 4 Egg Yolks
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp Mace
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • Cream sugar and butter well. Add egg yolks (well beaten) and buttermilk.

    Sift flour with dry ingredients and add tocreamed mixture. Mix until smooth.

    Cut with a 2 1/2 inch cutter.

    Fry in hot oil until brown. Drain excess oil onto paper towels.

    Makes 3 dozen
