24 Hour Cabbage Salad

  • 1 tablespoon Unflavored gelatin
  • 1/4 cup Cold water
  • 1 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Salad oil
  • 6-8 cups Shredded cabbage
  • 2 medium Green peppers, chopped
  • 2 Carrots, shredded
  • 1 medium Onion, shredded
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Celery seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • Soften the gelatin in cold water. Heat sugar and vinegar until sugar dissolves,cool. Add celery seed, salt and pepper.Combine gelatin and vinegar mixture, cool until the thickness of cream. Beat insalad oil. In large bowl combine cabbage, green pepper, carrots, and onion. Addenough of the dressing to moisten. Refrigerate 24 hour or up to several days.
