Chocolate Walnut Squares

  • 1 cup Butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 4 Eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla
  • 2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cup Walnuts, chopped
  • 2 squares (1 oz each) Unsweetened Chocolate, melted
  • 5 tablespoons Flour
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Vanilla
  • In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour andsalt, mix well. Fold in walnuts. Spreadhalf of the batter into a greased 9X13 pan. Add melted chocolate to the remaining batter, mix well. Carefully spread over the batter in the pan. Bake 350 for 30-35 minutes, or until tests done. Cool completely.

    FROSTING

    Mix flour and milkin a saucepan. Cook and stir over med heat until a thick paste forms, about 10 minutes. Cool completely. In mixing bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar. Add vanilla and mix well. Gradually add the milk mixture. Beat for 5 minutes. Frost cake. Store in the refrigerator.
