Cabbage Bake

  • 1 large head Cabbage, coarsely shredded
  • 1 medium Onions, chopped
  • 6 tablespoons Butter or margarine, divided
  • 1 can Cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 8 ounces Processed american cheese, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup Dry bread crumbs
  • Cook cabbage in boiling water until tender; drain. In large skillet, saute onion in 5 TBL butter until tender. Add soupand mix well. Add cheese; cook and stiruntil melted. Remove from heat stir in cabbage and seasonings. Pour into an ungreased 2 qt casserole dish. In small skillet melt remaining butter, stir in bread crumbs. Cook and stir until lightly browned. Sprinkle over casserole. Bake uncovered at 350 for 20-30 minutes.
