Caramel Apple Bars
In mixing bowl, cream butter, shortning, and brown sugar, until fluffy. Add flour, oats, salt, cinnamon, soda; mix well. Stir in pecans if desired. Set aside 2cups of crumb mixture. Press remaining mixture into an ungreased 9X13 pan. For filling toss apples with flour; spoon over the crust, drizzle carmel topping over apples. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake 400 for 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned, cool before cutting.
