Oatmeal Crispies

  • 1 cup Shortening
  • 1 cup Brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cups Sugar, granulated
  • 2 Well beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 3 cups Oats, quick-cooking
  • 1/2 cups Black Walnuts
  • Thoroughly cream shortening and sugars;add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Sift dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture. Add oats and nuts; mix well. Shape inrolls; chill thoroughly; slice 1/4" thick. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350º for 10 min. Makes 5 dozen
