Cookies

Soft Ginger Cookies

  • 1 cups Sugar
  • 3/4 cup Butter
  • 1/4 cup Molasses
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 cups Flour, all purpose
  • 2 teaspoons Baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon Ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Gound cloves
  • 1/2 cup Sugar for coating cookies
  • Heat oven to 375º. Mix sugar, butter, molasses and egg in a large bowl. Add flour, baking soda, singer, cinnamon, salt and cloves and mix until well blended. Shpae dough into walnut-sized balls and roll each in extra sugar. Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheet and flatteneach slightly with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Bake 6 to 8 minutes until brown and crinkly. Makes about 2 dozen
