Glazed Carrots - Virginia Style
Microwave Oven Directions: Cut carrotslengthwise into long, thin strips. Place carrot strips in a glass dish. Coverwith plastic wrap. Cook on high setting 7 minutes. In glass measuring cup, combine sugar, margarine and water. Cook on high setting until sugar is dissolvedand sauce is bubbly (about 1 minute). Pour sauce over carrots. Cover dish with plastic wrap. Return to microwave oven and cook on medium setting 10 minutes,or until carrots are glazed.
Conventional Oven Directions: In saucepan, cook carrots in 1 inch boiling salted water until carrots are tender-crisp. Transferto baking dish. In saucepan, combine sugar, margarine and liquid from carrots. Cook until sugar is dissolved and sauce is bubbly. Pour over carrots. Bake at 350°F about 20 minutes, until carrots are glazed.
