Mushroom Gravy

  • 1/2 cup Sliced mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon Chopped onion
  • 4 tablespoons Margarine
  • 4 tablespoons Flour
  • 2 cups Chicken, vegetable or meat stock
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 dash Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Put sliced mushrooms and chopped onion in a small glass dish. Cover with plastic wrap and place in microwave oven. Cook on high setting for 1 minute (until soft). Drain and add to gravy.

    Microwave Oven Directions: Place margarine in a glass mixing bowl and cook in microwave oven until melted (about 30 seconds onhigh setting). Stir in flour, blendinguntil smooth. Add remaining ingredients, stirring constantly. Place in microwave oven and cook on high for 4 to 6 minutes, until sauce is bubbly and thickened. Stir once every minute. Taste to correct seasonings.

    Conventional Directions: Melt margarine in a small saucepan. Blend in flour and cook until browned,stirring constantly. Gradually add stock and remaining ingredients, stirring constantly until mixture boils and thickens. Reduce heat to allow gravy to simmer for 3 to 5 minutes longer. Taste to correct seasonings.
