Giblet Gravy

  • ~ Chicken or turkey giblets
  • 2 cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 tablespoons Margarine
  • 4 tablespoons Flour
  • 2 cups Chicken or turkey stock
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 dash Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Cook giblets in boiling salted water until tender (1 to 2 hours). Chop fine and add to gravy.

    Microwave Oven Directions: Place margarine in a glass mixing bowl and cook in microwave oven until melted (about 30 seconds on high setting). Stir in flour, blending until smooth.Add remaining ingredients, stirring constantly. Place in microwave oven and cook on high setting for 4 to 6 minutes, until sauce is bubbly and thickened. Stir once every minute. Taste to correct seasonings.

    Conventional Oven Directions: Melt margarine in a small saucepan.Blend in flour and cook until browned, stirring constantly. Gradually add stock and remaining ingredients, stirring constantly until mixture boils and thickens. Reduce heat to allow gravy to simmerfor 3-5 minutes longer. Taste to correct seasonings.
