Chocolate Bars

  • 2 cups Brown sugar, dark
  • 1 cup Butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 cups Flour, all-purpose
  • 3 cups Oatmeal
  • 1 16 oz bag Chocolate chips
  • 14 oz can Sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons Butter or margarine
  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease 9x13 inch baking pan. In a large mixing bowl, beat together brown sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla until the mixture is creamy.Add baking soda, salt, flour and oatmeal, mixing until well combined.

    2. Press2/3rds of the batter into the prepared pan. Combine chocolate chips, condensed milk and the 2T of butter; spread the mixture over the batter in the pan. Spreador pour remaining batter on top of filling. Bake for 25 minutes. Cool before cutting.

    Makes 3 dozen bar cookies.
